This week again, we’ve been through quite a lot…
Glenlivet & Talisker whisky distilleries
We really like whisky a lot, so one of the goals of this month road trip in Scotland was to learn more about it and to be able to find a cheap & rare one we love most. We tried 2 really famous distilleries for free (you’ll know how in the coming lines 😉 and it was not as great as we thought it would be. We both liked the “Nàdurra” version of the Glenlivet, but it’s a way too expensive (as everything else here) !
On the road to the Loch Ness we saw a Highland Cow with the biggest horns you’ll ever see !
Checked ! We took the road less travelled to see the loch, we went on the east road and we saw some beautiful scenery. Of course the loch itself is pretty nice but what made it even nicer was our Couchsurfing host Olivier. He’s a French teacher living in Fort Augustus and about to move to Moscow. We talked about the Transsiberian railway, as he was thinking of maybe doing it with a friend – do it Olivier ! – and in return, he made us pass on the next level of whisky lesson (He visited no less than 30 distilleries already). As for the free whisky distillery visits, he’s the one that told us to simply register on www.malts.com – There’s a dozen distilleries you can go for free… How cool is that ?!
Eilean Donan Castle
On our way to the Isle of Skye, with another couchsurfer we managed to somehow fit in the car (it’s a very tiny car !), we of course stopped by the very famous Eilean Donan Castle, here’s what it looks like :
Isle of Skye
We absolutely loved our first day on the western part of the Isle : the Fairy pools, Talisker distillery and Neist Point where we found an amazing camping spot and watched the sunset, as recomanded by LonelyPlanet.com.
The Fairy Pools
The second day, however, was very crowded and not so fun anymore (lots of tourists in camper vans). We visited the Trotternish Peninsula, saw the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing. Appart from the Quiraing which was pretty nice to hike with ‘such a good’ weather (for Scotland !), we didn’t find the rest of these must-dos so interesting after all, and liked the west coast better.
But we got to take a shower in the ruins of an old church (that was on our bucket list) and managed to find another gorgeous spot for our last sunset on the Isle of Skye.
Have you been or want to go on the Isle of Skye ? Tell us more in the comments below !
In this episode we're taking you to the Underground River in Sabang, Philippines, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, that you can explore in 360° videos. We then head up North of Palawan Island to El Nido to bring you island hopping and will end up snorkelling in Coral Garden on Coron Island after having fun with some cool drone shots to witness this amazing place from the sky...
